1. WHAT IS THE LUNENBURG EDUCATION ACCELERATOR FOUNDATION?​
LEAF is an independent, 501(c)(3) charitable organization, committed to fostering educational excellence in the Lunenburg public schools. The Foundation provides private financial support for exemplary educational projects and programs that benefit the students and educators in Lunenburg schools.
2. WHY WAS THE LUNENBURG EDUCATION ACCELERATOR FOUNDATION FORMED?​
Very simply, to make a difference. The Foundation was created by a group of concerned citizens to assure that, despite budgetary shrinkage, the pursuit of educational excellence would continue through innovative projects and programming.
3. WHO RUNS THE LUNENBURG EDUCATION ACCELERATOR FOUNDATION?​
The Foundation is directed by a board of citizen volunteers who are committed to the pursuit of educational excellence throughout the school district. The board consists of individuals who bring with them a wide variety of skills and professional expertise – parents, business people, dedicated citizens, and professional educators.
4. WHAT IS THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN LEAF AND THE LUNENBURG PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT?​
While LEAF is an independent entity, the board works closely with the district and school committee to ensure that the Foundation's mission is furthered without disrupting or negatively impacting the goals and processes of the schools. Consultation with district and committee leadership also ensures legal and ethical compliance within the governmental framework of the town, state, and nation.
5. HOW DOES THE LUNENBURG EDUCATION ACCELERATOR FOUNDATION RAISE FUNDS?​
Funds are raised through individual and corporate donations.
6. WHAT TYPES OF PROJECTS DOES THE FOUNDATION FUND?​
All projects and proposals that fall within the Foundation’s mission and which meet published grant criteria can be considered. They may range from small initiatives requested by a single teacher in one classroom to major programs touching hundreds of students throughout the district. While the subjects covered by grants will vary from year to year, the mission remains the same: to enhance academic excellence throughout Lunenburg public schools.
7. HOW CAN I CONTRIBUTE TO THE LUNENBURG EDUCATION ACCELERATOR FOUNDATION?​
Contributions can be made in several ways. 8. HOW DO I KNOW MY DONATION WILL BE USED WISELY?​
The Foundation is governed by a concerned and dedicated Board of Directors. All distributions will require approval from the Grants Committee and ratification by the Board of Directors. All grant recipients (teachers) will be required to report their project outcomes, which will be posted publicly on this website.
9. HOW DOES THE FOUNDATION MAKE A DIFFERENCE?​
Foundation grants, large or small, foster innovative programming that better prepares students for the future by strengthening academics, enhancing technology, providing updated material support, and bolstering skilled instructional techniques. For our treasured educators, grants open a door to possibilities beyond the scope of their day-to-day, where creative thinking and teaching are catalysts to greater job satisfaction and community engagement.
10. HOW CAN I BE PART OF THE LUNENBURG EDUCATION ACCELERATOR FOUNDATION?​
